Founded in 1817 with around 44,000 students and 15,000 staff, is one of the leading institutions of higher education and research in the Benelux countries under the motto \u201cDare to Think\u201d. It\u2019s 11 faculties with 86 departments offer courses in Dutch and English to students and conduct in-depth research within a broad range of scientific fields with national and international partner institutions.<\/td>\r\nFounded in 1949 and employing around 1,000 staff, is the leading Slovenian institution for research in natural sciences and technology. It pursues research, development, and education at the highest international level of excellence. It has a long tradition of collaboration with research organisations and industry across the globe, participating currently in over 300 international projects.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Department of Public Health & Primary Care <\/strong>– This department<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The department employs around 250 scientific and administrative staff. The research of the Epidemiology and Prevention Unit focuses on disease prevention such as psychosocial risk factors at work, risk factors epidemiology, risk management, and life style changes aiming to improve people\u2019s health through population-based research.<\/td>\r\nDepartment of Intelligent Systems <\/strong>– This department<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0conducts research on artificial intelligence and develops intelligent computer systems. It employs over 30 full-time researchers and part-time collaborators, most of whom have training in computer science. The foremost areas of expertise are machine learning, data mining, and decision support, where approaches based on data and expert knowledge are used. Further work areas are speech and language technologies, optimization, and multi-agent systems.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Prof. Dr. Els Clays<\/a> has a PhD degree in Medical Sciences from Ghent University and has a background in Criminology and Sociology. She is an Associate Professor in the Epidemiology and Prevention Unit at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. Her main research area is general epidemiology, public health, occupational health, and biostatistics.<\/td>\r\nDr. Mitja Lu\u0161trek<\/a> has a PhD degree in Computer and Information Science from the University of Ljubljana. He is the head of the Ambient Intelligence Group at the Department of Intelligent Systems. His main research area is ambient intelligence, particularly the analysis of human behaviour and health using sensors, and the provision of context-dependent services.<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n
Larissa Bolliger<\/a> has an MSc degree in Public Health from the University of Southern Denmark and a background in Nursing. She is a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Life Sciences and Medicine and a researcher in the Epidemiology and Prevention Unit at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care.<\/td>\r\nJuno\u0161 Lukan<\/a> has an MA degree in Psychology from the University of Ljubljana and an MSc degree in Physics from the Imperial College London.
